August 2008
Picked up my last suitcase worth of stuff from my flat and handed in key. Had some fun times, some tough times and some beer times there.
It seems like yesterday really was all the summer we’re going to get in London. Here’s hoping Vancouver will be better.
And today National Rail is managing to work fairly well. Weather is slightly more condusive to dragging a heavy suitcase through London tho’
I can honest say I’ve never quite understood why jaiku is awesome. Other than it looks pretty.
Oh, and the header includes a screenshot of the not-yet-approved v1.1 :)
http://m.ac.nz/justupdate updated now actually has a screenshot.
Not entirely sure how UK train companies manage to piss me off so frequently, but they do. Boy do they.
4 days left in the Windsor office. I suppose I ought to start thinking about taking my stuff home.
The Naxos Classical Music Spotlight podcast always makes for a good listen, though it often leads to me buying albums.
http://m.ac.nz/justupdate/iphone/privacy is the “Privacy” link from within JustUpdate 1.1 wrt stats collection.
No changes have been made. Please make your changes or click “Cancel”. Uh. Yeah.
JustUpdate v1.1 pushed up to the appstore. Now to hope I don’t find any bugs before it’s approved…
What a shame I make the analytics opt-in… I’d be interested to see from the stats if Apple really do run the app to check it out.
Sitting backwards on a bus going in the right direction. Glad it’s not the other way around.
It’s a sad state of affairs when you need to reboot a bus.
Pondering whether to replace the current about alert with a proper view, but then I’ll have to animate it or use a view controller. Sigh.
Here’s hoping this build contains no bugs, and I get it queued up for release asap.
The next version of JustUpdate will include anonymous stats to help me guage what bits are being used the most. Fully opt-in of course.
Yet again it’s home time!
It seems I might have made the error checking a bit too… Error.
Ok, so NSString -stringWithCString:encoding: was returning nil (-stringWithCString is fine) and no errors. Gah.
When did sourceforge get so orange?
Three weeks, no problems. Two days and busses cause me to miss my train both days. Argh. Todays inexplicably took 10 mins longer than usual
38 unread emails first thing in the morning would usually tell me my monitering software had gone haywire. Glad this wasn’t the case.
Hrm, train.
Accidentally hitting build & go on my app store build config just leads to sadness. And a wasted 5 minutes.
Filing tv episodes into folders. Seems vaguely pointless as they’re all in iTunes, but oh well.
Tweetering on about nothing in particular.
Realising that JustUpdate isn’t in source control. Woops. Better sort that :)
38 unread emails first thing would usually tell me my

Pondering a Change
The problem with being more addicted to changing blog software than blogging itself, I’m pondering a change to Tumblr.
Pondering first how to deal with existing content - though I’ve gone the “dump to HTML and pretend it never happened” route before, in the form of Soapbox Crypt, and I suppose it wouldn’t be too hard to make SimpleLog do the same thing. Would save...
Not happy that I missed my train by a minute. Even not happier that the bus to the train decided it was running early so stopped for 4mins.
Gave http://everything.patrick.geek.nz/ a bit more visual love, pondering moving my blogging to it full time, but I still like SimpleLog…
Ok, that test worked out. Do I a) do a beta of JustUpdate 1.1 (using AdHoc and so on on) or just b) push an update through the AppStore?
Last.fm recommendation radio is playing me a lot of country today. Not complainin’ just observin’. Wonder if that’s a self fulfilling thing.
Plotting how to add a friends list to JustUpdate, with some kind of caching so performance doesn’t suck, is a sqlite database overkill?
Trying out twinkle. Know the competition and all that.
868 downloads in two days for an app that does one thing and thing only. Surprised, actually.
People who give apps one star as a “first review” on the App Store are… well, not very nice.
“SyncServer: Truth vacuumed” good to know, wouldn’t want the truth getting dirty.
iSSH makes my iPhone… something. An IRC client to my screen’d irssi with a teeeeeny fontsize for a start.
Ok, lunch…?
My app, on the appstore! http://tinyurl.com/5pftdn whee.
Well, my app is now “Ready for Sale” according to iTunes Connect… but when will it actually show up in the store?
4 page print ready 6.3mm bleed A4 page brochure done and dusted, I’m happy and ready to go home.
“Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE8000001)” well poop.
Hello weekend, it’s nice to be here.
